Recovery Friendly Workplace
Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services (ADAS)

As a leader in behavioral health services, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services, known as ADAS, has gone beyond its commitment to creating a supportive, inclusive, and stigma-free work environment for individuals in recovery from substance use disorders. ADAS does not simply provide services to the recovery community, it lives its values internally, building a workplace culture grounded in respect, compassion, and second chances.

ADAS actively promotes wellness and recovery among its staff by offering policies that support work-life balance, mental health care, and flexibility for individuals managing recovery-related needs. The organization’s leadership has fostered a climate of openness, trust, and dignity, where employees feel safe disclosing recovery status without fear of discrimination or judgment. In fact, individuals in recovery are not only welcome, they are valued for the insight and lived experience they bring to the team.

Beyond policy, ADAS models recovery-friendly practices through:
•Inclusive hiring of individuals with lived experience in substance use and recovery.
•Ongoing training on trauma-informed care, stigma reduction, and recovery principles for all employees.
•Recovery Support integration, both in the services they provide and within the workplace community itself.
•Collaboration with community partners to advance recovery as a public health and workforce issue.

The culture at ADAS is one of acceptance and empowerment. Employees speak of a workplace where their recovery is not seen as a liability, but as a source of strength and purpose. This atmosphere contributes not only to employee retention and wellbeing, but also to the high quality and authenticity of care the organization delivers to its clients.

In honoring ADAS, we celebrate a workplace where recovery is woven into the fabric of the organization, and where every individual is supported in reaching their fullest potential. It is with great pride that we recognize ADAS for the Recovery Friendly Workplace Award.
